New interview with Roydo
Get to know : Kim Goyard / 김고야드
Questions : Melo and Kimia
Translation : 안경훈
1- You just uploaded a new song and music video "때려쳐", could you tell us more about it, what is this song about ?
- Doing music in korea, they aren't many people who think seriously about music, that's why this song means "quit doing music if you think about this lightly" and also emphasis the fact that doing music shouldnt be an easy way and should be taken more seriously.
2- What inspires you to write lyrics in general ?
- I get inspired by my current circumstances. I think people can relate and be sympathetic if i express those. When i'm working almost every thoughts can be turned into an inspiration for lyrics. For exemple i would just tell myself "just quit !" and later on will make a song out of this.
3- How would you describe your lyrics and style ?
- Trap is from the USA but i think i express that style in a korean way and that's my identity
4- If you had one artist or one song to recommand , what would it be ?
- Recommanded artist : A$AP Rocky-
Recommanded song : A$AP Mob : Yamborghini High ( feat Juicy J )
5- How do you decide on the beats ? Do you pick random beats on the internet or ask producers for some ?
- I usually get beats from overseas producers more than korean ones.
5- Why did you chose the stage name "Kim Goyard" ?
- Firt of all because it is my personal name and also because it also means to "hit a home run" in my life
7- You did quite a lot of featurings : such as with Unofficialboy on "뚜이부치", Killagramz and Jay moon on "돈보다 위" remix or lovolf on "container" etc .. Who was your favorite to collab with ?
- "뚜이부치" is my favorite one because it is the most meaningful one, it was my first step into the music scene and my second fav would be "때려쳐" which recently came out and thats because i can show how much i improved.
8- Is there someone you didn't collab with and really wanna collab with ?
- Hm.. There are a lot .. Dbo, Loopy, The Quiett
9- How do you feel k-hiphop changed these past years ? Is there anything that you think influenced that change ?
- I think K-hiphop has influenced korean culture a lot. People's understanding of KHH has been better compared to a few years ago but still, hiphop hasnt really settled down in Korea yet.
10- Many k-hiphop fans these days discovered khh through shiws like "Show Me The Money" or "Highschool Rapper".. What do you think of it and do you wish there was a different approach/ representation of korean hiphop on television ?
- I think showing hiphop through the mass media is good. From what i seen so far, i think there are more positive aspects but i hope hiphop wont become a slave of the mass media.
Interview with AP
AP is a Korean rapper based in LA. He first encountered hip-hop when he came to America in his youth and listened to some songs in his car. The part he likes the best about his career is going on trip and doing stages. His favourite artists are Kodack Black, Gunna, Young Thug, Future, Lil Baby and Lil Wayne.
Because a lot of his friends (including members of the 42 crew), we asked him what he thinks about Show Me The Money. He answered that it was a program that brought up the genre of hip-hop in Korea. He thinks even more people will start to enjoy hip-hop.
We also asked him what was going to be the future of his crew, 42. He told us that it was going to turn fine and alright. We can expect great things from them in the future. He is usually influenced by the things he experiences and his feelings and mood of the moment.
He is currently working on a EP with a friend called Chillo. « Even though we don't have a release date yet, we know it is at the stage of finishing touches. »
When he writes an EP, each project is different so that is why the time each of them take is different. Sometimes, it's faster than expected. He would like to collaborate with a guitarist in a future project.
Also, he hopes to be able to show us more of his songs in 2019.

He started singing and writting lyrics in elementary school, he was getting inspired by Drunken Tiger a lot.
Because he got a very unique and special look ( wearing anime related merch , necklace and cute accessories ) i asked him if he got a lot of remarks about that ( especially since the hiphop culture is quite known for being manly- quite macho )

I didn't get much remarks , i am aware that i can be an inspiration to others because of my looks.
His parents didnt say much too when he started dressing up they just said it could look strange to others but they are fine with it ( he started dressing up one year ago ).

Teogold's interview
Q1 : First off i wanted to know is any of your family members musician or maybe artist ?
A : My father use to be a musician when he was younger but the he gotta take care of the family so he was forced to change his job. That made his life harder because he got many talents for example i didn't know that he painted so well, it's quite sad, what a waste.
Q2 : How do you see yourself in a few years ? Still doing music ? As a hobby or a daily work ?
A : Of course i do it all for the music and i wanna be the biggest musician with no shame.
Q3 : Did anyone helped you with you passion ( music ) ?
A : No, no one helped me, i dont like to depend on others either. I got a team now and they all trust and believe in me as the leader.
Q4 : Is there any particular crew members you would like to introduce to us ? Someone we should check out ?
A : All the members are really talented ! Do you know « Neon Vibes » ? I did a feat with him, actually a few : « Don't worry about me », « Party » and « Too late », i did the verse 2.
Then he talked about some animes he would like to introduce which are : « Trigun » and « Cowboy Bepop ».Those are his favorites, he said that he learned a lot from them, they deal with life in general and point out some different views concerning humans. He « learned about life and the value/meaning of it » It made his ego grow stronger so he recommended those to me/us.
So i had the pleasure to talk a little bit with Clloud ( his real name being yoo jinyoung ) before he went to High School Rapper season 2 actually ( he killed it btw ). His instagram is over there
So here is some of the questions i asked him enjoy~
Mini interview with Clloud
K : When did you start rapping ?
him : I started listening to rap since i was 13 and i started really doing it and writting lyrics in march this year
K : So how old are you ?
him : i'm 20 years old ( he's actually 19 since he was born in 1999 and the korean age differs from the international age )
K : Since you will be doing High School Rapper season 2 i have yo ask , why do you want to do this program ?
him : To be famous , then i'll have people to listen to my music
K : why not participating in Smtm ( Show me the money ) then ?
him : if smtm happens again later , i will participate in it
K : i'm sure there will be a season 7 because i lot of people have seen the multiple seasons and are pretty much fans of this whole concept
him : i guess so but no one knows what's gonna happenwhen we're broadcasted
K : Are you worried ?
him : hm it is both worrying and interesting at the same time for various reasons
K : like what ?
clloud : it's funny but i'm concerned that i might get exposed to the medias and the image of me that will air ( what kind of image mnet if going to give of him ) . I'm worried that they show fake things or edit the reality ( aka mnet famous evil editing )
K : okay i see, well thanks for your time and answering my questions :)

Interview with RAUDI :
It has been really nice doing this interview with Raudi, we sincerely hope you will get to kow him by reading his answers to our questions
Q : Can you tell us more about yourself ( age, name etc .. )
A : Hello, my name is RAUDI. I am 24 years old ( Korean age ) , and I am doing two jobs as a rapper and a producer.
Q : What are your current song favorites that you keep playing ?
A : Umm.. Actually I like various songs and listen to them. So it's hard to pick only one, but if I have to say one thing, it's a song called "RACECAR" by Aries. Lately, I listen to this song a lot. It's such a fun song. I don't think a lot of people know him, if you haven't listend to this, I recommend it.
Q : What is the title and theme of the first song you ever made/composed/wrote ?
A : Did you mean that the first song I made was the first one I made in my music career? if so, I think.. it might be a song that's about me.. I still remember the title, it was called "introduction". I only rapped on that song. At that time, I didn't even have a microphone to record so I used the web cam's mic on my friend's computer. Also one interesting point is I wrote my first rap lines in English, not Korean.
Q : One word to describe your music ?
A : I would like to describe my music as "City Night" feeling, and I hope that those who listen to my songs will feel that way.
Q : One album/ep/mini album you're the most proud of ( could be a song too )
A : I guess it's my first mixtapeㅡ[NIGHTCLOW]. Of course, it's my first and the only mixtape I've ever made, but I think it's more like it has a mood and sound that I wanted to show people.
Q : Which artist(s) would you like to do a featuring with and you haven done yet ? and why ?
A : Umm.. I found out at SoundCloud that there are two people who sing called Natania and Harms. Their voice is so good and the songs are quite awesome, but I still haven't been able to ask because I don't have the appropriate beats to work with. I hope to work with them soon.
Q : Speaking of featurings , which one is the most memorable for you ?
A : In fact, there are so many memorable features. First of all, Killagramz who participated in my mixed tape song 'Oil and the water' was crazy.
I asked him a week ago but he came to my house and finished writing the lyrics and recording in 20 minutes. and he did a great job. You know, that shit is amazing. I
'm surprised to see him work all the time. And my friend, Flori, who worked with me on the "Stay Up" song, surpised me. I was amazed at the melody he made and his singing ability. I worked with Jworld a while ago, he also participated in "Stay Up" . I just asked him to make anything in my studio, and he made a new song, like if I played the beat, he would finish the entire song with a free style. I think he has some crazy talent. He finished recording all in one-take. That's how we worked on it, so we could finish four songs in just one day. One of them will be released on December 21. Look forward for it !
Q : Do you have a ritual/ something you do to motivaye yourseld to write songs/enter a stage ..?
A : What I do before I start working on a song and before I go on stage are a little different. Before I start working on a song, I watch YouTube a lot. Check out a new song, a video of other artists working on it, a live video, a dance video, anything that's going to be fun or interesting. It's a little bit of a warm-up, also you can get ideas from those images. On the other hand, before I go to the stage, think about it, I'm the only one in the studio, but the stage is seen by many people, isn't it? so I'm very nervous before I go up. I'm even nervous about rehearsals. So I take a deep breath. But the funny thing is.. I feel more comfortable when I step up to the stage, when ive smoked and joked before too.
Q : Is there a special message you would like to convey through your songs ?
A : Well, other than a message, I just write what I want to say. So it's different every time, but I think I usually express my aspirations a lot. Especially, it's like "I can do anything on my own." that sort of thing. I've done it alone without learning rap, I've used beats to make the beat I want, and I've made cover art all by myself, so I tell about that kind of things in my lyrics. I don't think it's such a special message, but it would be nice if it affected anyone.
Q : what is your goal/ where do you see yourself in 5 years ?
A : I hope I'll be working abroad in five years. My goal is to become an artist who works not only in Korea but also around the world, whether as I'm a rapper or a producer.
Q : What courses did you take at uni/ what did you graduate from ? is it music related ?
A : I'm in college. I major in music and I am studying compostion, piano, and so on. I don't study so hard at school, but... I'm trying to learn some of things I'm lacking.
Q : when did you start writing lyrics and what triggered it ?
A : I was just amazed that rappers write their own lyrics as I listened to this type of music for the first time. Usually there is a singer who sings the song and a lyricist who writes the song's lyrics. But in Hiphop, it was very interesting that the singer write a song and perform it with a rap and it was really cool to put what he want to say in the song in itself. So I started writing lyrics about my story and eventually I'm still doing it. lol
Q : In your daily life do you give yourself all to music and live from it or do you have other jobs to complement it ?
A : I don't really have any hobbies. I started to make music when I was in middle school so yeah it was my hobby since that day. I do this as a hobby everyday so I have no time for other hobbies. The music activity is more than 90 percent in my daily life. the other 10% are making cover art and sometimes playing computer games I think.
Q : If you had to pick a country to do a stage there, where would it be ?
A : First of all, definitely it's Korea. I think I have not yet performed as much as I want in Korea. I haven't had much opportunity to perform especially recently. So I hope to perform more in Korea.
Q : Any words for your fans or people that want to discover more of you ?
A : I'm very grateful to those who love my music. I know there are a various of people who know me as a producer or as a rapper in SoundCloud. I want you to expect a lot cause I will do so much activity. RAUDI is coming back soon with a new mix-tape and official album! Thank you.

LG: Well recently there is 'Drip Drip Drip' - Tory Lanez ft. Meek Mill, also 'Pretty Little Fears' - 6lack ft. J.Cole, 'Fuck That' - Russ, and 'Safari' - BRADYSTREET
BG : Tell us more about your musical career when did it started, what was your first single, how did all of that happen etc ..
LG : The first track I've ever released is called '3AM' ft. JUNNY from Marilyn Monderland. The reason for this title is because I've had one too many drinks on a Saturday night and expressed how I was feeling in that moment by writing it down at 3 in the morning haha
I first started writing lyrics back in 2016 when I made cover videos with some friends. Seeing a lot of positive feed backs made me write more and eventually led me to make singles.
BG : What about your music how would you describe it ?
LG : One word I would use to describe my music is 'Versatility' because I never limit myself on making one style of music. I believe that as an artist, you should be able to express whatever you want in any fashion without chasing after the 'Trendy Sound' or minding what the people might want to hear.
BG : An album/EP that you're the most proud of ?
LG : I don't have any album/EP/LP released currently but the track that I am most proud of is called 'Tonight'. I strongly believe that anyone can enjoy listening to it
BG : An artist you would like to do a featuring with ? and why ?
LG : I would want to collab with Jay Park in the future just because he is someone that has a great impact on my music
BG : Is there anything you do before going on stage that takes out a little bit of your stress or motivates you ?
LG : I usually stay motivated all the time so nothing really hinders me from writing lyrics. My ritual before going on stage is meditation, hydration, and energy drinks.
BG : Is there a special message you would like to convey through your songs ? And where do you see yourself in a few years ?
LG : My main goal for making music is to have a positive impact on the listeners, whether it's to help them get through hard times, motivate, etc. Then about my future i would say that my goal is to accomplish myself as an Artist in Korea then market myself in the US.
BG : What courses did you take at uni/ what did you graduate from ? is it music related ?
LG : I actually went to college for a short period of time to become a nurse but dropped out to pursue music
BG : In your daily life do you give yourself all to music and live from it or do you have other jobs to complement it ?
LG : I have a 9-5 job at a game development company but thriving to become an Artist as full time
BG :if you had to pick a country to do a stage there, where would it be ?
LG : I've always wanted to perform at big festivals in the US such as 'Rolling Loud' or 'Coachella' but doing shows in Europe would be pretty awesome as well
BG : Any last words for your fans or people that wanna discover more about you ?
I am currently working on an album which will be released in 2019 so follow me on Instagram @lilgimch to stay updated! And as per usual, check out my singles that I will be dropping each month on all platforms!
Nunsseop interview
Nunsseop is a 29 years old korean rapper who is starting to get famous throughout social media. With already an EP out on his YouTube channel and over 8000 followers on his instagram account, he is close to his community. We had the chance to get an interview with him with some questions asked by international fans.
His first experience with hip-hop was when he listened to Epik High's « 평화의 날이 » in his third year of high school. That is when he really got into hip-hop and started listening more. He decided to take an artistic path because he wanted to look cool but, now, he realised he wants to enjoy making music rather than looking cool. He gets his inspiration to make music with late evening, love, girls or even alcohol.
He writes his texts alone because ''if you call yourself a musician/rapper, you should at least write your own lyrics'' but he doesn't write for other artists. Also, he doesnt play any instruments and uses a touchpad to compose his own beats. Throughout his music, he wants to share nice and warm feelings or mostly happiness. He wants his songs to be shareable with others or relatable. Since he started doing music late and is worried about his age, he wonders if he can keep up with new trends and musical challenges. But he remains positive by thinking about what he has done so far. He remembers where he is coming from and also think about his parents that love and support him. His favourite artists are Jay Park, Smino and Toni Lou.
In ten year, he hopes to see himself as a unique artist with his own colours. He would like to collab with Dean or Crush, since he is a singer. When we asked him if he had collaborations already planned, he told us he had some lyrics music videos coming from ROMANCEISCOMMON and he is also working on a double album that would be released in mid-january 2019 ! He is also working on a new EP that would probably launch around July 2019. Stay tuned for more info about Nunsseop and don't forget to check out our translations of his songs if you are interrested.
